The Chairman Board of Trustees of Annahda International Islamic Organization, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Hussain, has conferred an Award of Excellence to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
Others who received equal awards recently at the El-Kanemi hall of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) were three Commissioners and some other notable scholars within the North-East region of Nigeria.
Secretary-General of Annahda Islamic International Organization, Professor Jidda Hassan who presented the awards during the occasion noted that the organization had an interest in community-based education development, stressing that for the last four decades it established and founded many educational institutions.
Professor Jidda added that the organization vested interest in educational achievements in the last few years and introduced Merit Awards and certificates to be given to those who excelled or distinguished themselves in academics, education services and human development.

Special guest and the Chairman of Borno State Civil commission, Dr Bulama Gubio, expressed his gratitude to the organization for their community service and urged the award recipients to put more efforts in their pursuits.
Dr Gubio also called on the people of Borno State to intensify prayers and fasting over the lingering Boko Haram insurgency.
The awardees included, VC Professor Aliyu Shugaba, Yobe State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss, Borno State Commissioner Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abba Jato, Borno State Commissioner Ministry of Higher Education, Professor Hussaini Marte, Borno State Deputy Director Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Adam Musa and distinguished Professors and Associate Professors in the region.
VC Unimaid, Professor Aliyu Shugaba represented by Professor Mohammed Madawaki while responding on behalf of the award recipients expressed his appreciation over the award and promised that the University will support the organization in any way possible for the educational development in the country.
“We must deny these groups the undue publicity they crave,” the minister said.
