Unilorin elects 36th students’ union President

A 400-level student of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Ologundudu Joseph Adesunkanmi, popularly known as Royal prince has emerged as the 36th substantive president elect of the University Students’ Union.

He emerged as the winner after beating three other candidates for the top position.

Ologundudu polled a total of 3,013 votes to surpass his closest rival from the Faculty of Law, Hauwa Usman, who garnered 2,527 votes.

In a message sighted by our reporter shortly after the election results were announced, the winner expressed his gratitude to those who voted for him.

He wrote, “The 36th Students’ Union President Elect, University of Ilorin. Thank you UNILORITES for choosing excellence.”

The Agricultural student, who is currently serving as the General Secretary of the institution’s Students’ Union, has earlier vowed to prioritize the welfare of the students.

In his declaration of intent message ahead of the election, he emphasized the need to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far by the previous administrations of the Union, adding that he will not fail the students.

Other members elected to the Students’ body Central Executive Council (CEC) include: Adegoke Rodiyah (Ronnyx) as Vice President-elect (Permanent Site), Yusuf Bushrah as Vice President-elect (COHS), ZuluQuranaini Shukurat (SAIN) as General Secretary-elect, Atolagbe Oluwatobi Joseph as P.R.O elect, Agezeh Victor as Financial Secretary elect, and Balogun Abdullahi as Social Secretary elect, among others.

Students from various faculties of the university were also elected into the legislative arm of the Students’ Union in the just-concluded election.
