UNIFEMGA to honour Ali, 28 others in Ilorin

THE Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) will tomorrow celebrate 29 of its members for their achievements and excellence in their professional and humanitarian works at the 15th edition of its National Honours Day.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the association, Ibraheem Fagbenro, said the programme, which would be held will hold in Ilorin, Kwara State, would feature a lecture entitled ‘Nigeria’s Economic Reforms: Mitigating the Challenges through Sustainable  Socio-economic Measures’ to be delivered by Qadi, Shariah Court of Appeal, Ilorin, Justice Ahmad Abdul Raheem Sayi, under the chairmanship of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Emeritus Professor Is-haq Oloyede.

According to the statement, the honorees include a legal luminary and Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Osun State University, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, who will be awarded the first Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.

The statement said eight professors, two permanent secretaries, six directors, six fellows of various professional bodies, and six Ph.D holders would receive one lifetime achievement award, four presidential awards, 10 excellence awards and 14 achievement awards.

Speaking on the uniqueness of this year’s Honours Day, the UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, emphasised that the individuals being honoured were “meticulously selected for their outstanding accomplishments across various domains of human endeavour.”

Buari said: “We are delighted to celebrate these 29 distinguished members who have not only excelled in their chosen fields but have also made significant contributions to the growth and development of UNIFEMGA.

“Their achievements serve as an inspiration to all our members and showcase the immense potential of our association.”

The event is expected to attract dignitaries, including academics, professionals and members of the Muslim community.

Since the maiden edition of the National Honours Day in 2011, about 230 members of the association have been honoured for their landmark achievements.
