The tragic case of Adekolore Idowu Glory, a recent graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has deeply shocked the Iyowa community in Benin City, Edo State.
On June 13, 2024, Glory, a 22-year-old who graduated in April and was in the process of completing her clearance, was brutally beaten and raped to death by unknown assailants while returning home from school.
Her lifeless body was found near her mother’s house.
Glory’s brother, in a heart-wrenching appeal on social media platform X, called for justice for his sister.
He narrated how she was attacked on her way back from UNIBEN and left in a horrific state, with her body showing signs of severe assault and rape.
The family, devastated by the loss, has deposited her body at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) mortuary.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
He detailed that Glory’s body was discovered unclothed, with blood oozing from her private parts.
