Revealing this to journalists in Lagos, the Chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Bayo Akhigbe, stated that the communities decided to honour these personalities for their roles in bringing development to the various Uneme communities in their individual capacities at different times.

Akhigbe disclosed that the event is part of the launch of a five hundred million naira education and security trust fund aimed at addressing the development challenges currently faced by the Uneme communities.

The planning committee chairman said, “We, as a people and communities, have decided to celebrate our illustrious sons and daughters and, at the same time, honour them as our proud ambassadors.

“In their various ways, they have positively impacted the Uneme communities through interventions in education, health, agriculture, and job creation programmes. We are grateful for what they have done and, at the same time, request for more.”
