World leaders should not sit on the fence on the issue of the situation in South Africa. Virtually all the leaders of countries on the African continent fought for South Africa’s liberation during the prolonged apartheid rule by the minority White rulers.
This led to the imprisonment of the late Nelson Mandela and many others before the country’s independence in 1990. Nigeria played a leading role in the South African liberation struggle, financially and politically. Unfortunately, South Africans now bite the fingers that fed them.
It is high time world leaders and organizations such as the United Nations and the African Union called South Africa to order, to avoid reprisals by Nigerians and other nationals. We are all members of the AU and the UN. It is the turn of Nigerians to experience xenophobic attacks today; it may be the turn of the Unites States tomorrow.
