UK lottery player wins £177m in EuroMillions draw

A United Kingdom lottery player has struck gold, winning the £177 million EuroMillions jackpot and claiming the third-largest prize in the country’s history.

The winning numbers—7, 11, 25, 31, and 40, with lucky stars 9 and 12—secured the life-changing sum.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser for lottery operator Allwyn, described the victory as a “wonderful win right before Christmas” and urged all players to check their tickets.

If the winner is an individual, they will instantly surpass the net worth of music icons Harry Styles and Adele, whose fortunes of £175 million and £170 million placed them on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List.

After their ticket is validated, the winner will have the option to go public or remain anonymous. This win follows the record-breaking £195 million prize claimed by an anonymous UK ticket holder in July 2022.

Last year, Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester made headlines with their £184 million win, also from a Lucky Dip ticket.
