UK: London’s Regent Street evacuated due to ‘bomb threat’

Published by

A large portion of one of London’s busiest shopping districts has been evacuated this afternoon.

Shoppers, workers, and residents were instructed to leave buildings around Regent Street after a car was left outside the renowned Hamley’s toy store.

Several controlled detonations were carried out in the area as a safety measure.

The police cordon was expanded to cover Savile Row, Conduit Street, Beak Street, and Burlington Street, with bus routes being redirected.

Witness Angus Hamill recounted, “Police burst into my office and ordered everyone to evacuate.”

Footage from the scene reveals people gathered at the police cordon, glancing toward the parked vehicle.
Ashley Bone @Squashly17 tweeted: “Bomb threat outside Hamleys on Regent Street, rumors it’s the stationary car.”

An intersection between Regent Street and Beak Street has been closed.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed: “Road closures are in effect in the vicinity of Regent Street and New Burlington Street while officers investigate a suspicious vehicle. Officers have carried out a number of controlled explosions as a precautionary measure.”
