The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan (UI) has appointed Mr. Adewuyi Popoola the new bursar of the university.
Popoola, who until his appointment was the Deputy Bursar in charge of Administration of the university.
The Director of Public Communication of the university, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo, made this announcement in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, saying the appointment has taken effect since Monday, September 20.
According to him, Mr Popoola joined the services of the university in the year 2000 as a Senior Accountant (Pension Office) and through dint of hard work and dedication to duty he rose to the position of Principal Accountant in 2005, Chief Accountant in 2009, Deputy Bursar, Postgraduate School (now Postgraduate College) in 2014, Deputy Bursar (Finance) in 2017 and lastly the Deputy Bursar (Administration) in 2019 where he is appointed to his new office.
Mr Oladejo said the new bursar, 57, hails from Ilora in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State Nigeria and attended Ilora Baptist Grammar School, Ilora, Oyo State between 1975 and 1981 for his secondary education; The Polytechnic, Ibadan for his Higher National Diploma in Accounting; Lead City University, Ibadan and the University of Ibadan for his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and graduated with First Class Division and Master of Business Administration, respectively.
He added that Mr. Popoola is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI) and has attended many local and international conferences and workshops.
