The university was closed down on May 29 after students at a congress passed a resolution to disrupt the forthcoming examinations if students were not provided with identity cards. The authorities then decided in their wisdom to close down the school and postpone the examinations earlier scheduled for June till July, adding that the school would resume on July 17.

However, after a special meeting of the university’s Senate on Friday, June 23, decided to bring forward the resumption date, having reviewed issues that led to the closure of the institution.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, OlujimiIretola Olukoya, it was decided that “undergraduate students should return to campus on Sunday, 2 July, 2017, to continue the suspended first semester 2016/2017 academic session.
“The students should report to their respective Halls of Residence from Sunday, 2 July to Monday, 3 July 2017.
“The 2016/2017 first semester examinations would commence on Tuesday, 4 July, 2017 at the various faculties.”
The statement added that, “All students are enjoined to be law-abiding and be conscious of the content of their matriculation oaths during the examinations and throughout their stay in the university.”
