Brig. Richard Karemire, Uganda’s military spokesperson, said that Corporal Yoram Tumwesigye fired several bullets injuring four of his colleagues on Saturday night while on guard duty at a camping site away from the Uganda Martyrs Shrines, Namugongo, which hosted thousands of people,
“He was arrested and investigations are going on. The injured are responding well and no pilgrim was injured,” said Karemire.
The incident occurred just hours after thousands of pilgrims gathered to commemorate the annual Uganda Martyrs Day at Namugongo Shrines on Sunday.
