Two years after marriage, Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck

American singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez, popularly known as J.Lo, has filed for divorce from her partner, Ben Affleck, after two years of marriage.

According to the BBC, Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court following reports that the couple had been living separately. The divorce papers listed their date of separation as 26 April 2024.

The couple, whose romance dates back to the early 2000s, officially tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022.

Lopez and Affleck first met in 2001 while filming Gigli, in which they portrayed criminals stuck on a job together. Their off-screen friendship gradually blossomed into a romance that attracted significant media attention, with tabloids dubbing them “Bennifer.”

By November 2002, they were engaged, but their relationship soon cooled. They postponed their planned wedding, set for September 2003, and eventually split four months later.

Both moved on with their lives: Lopez married singer Marc Anthony in 2004, and Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005.

However, the couple were spotted together again in April 2021 and became engaged a year later.

This was the fourth marriage for pop singer-turned-actress Lopez, 55, and the second for Oscar-winning actor and director Affleck, 52.
