Two separate accidents claim four lives in Ogun

No fewer than four persons lost their lives in two separate accidents in Ogun State, in the late hours of Friday and on Saturday.

The first accident happened on the Ijebu-Ode -Ore highway and the second on the corridor of the Lagos -Ibadan Expressway.

The Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Command, Florence Okpe, in a statement issued on Saturday, informed that the first accident occured at 8:34 p.m on Friday at Ogbere axis on Ijebu Ode -Ore road and it involved a Daf truck marked AYE 886 ZQ and a Volvo truck with registration number  MUS 246 YH.

Okpe attributed route and speed violation as the suspected causes of the accident.

“A total of five men were involved, three were injured while two others were killed. The injured victims were taken to State General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.

” One of the corpses was handed over to the families of the deceased and the second one deposited at the General Hospital Morgue Ijebu Ode,” she said.

She explained that the second crash occured at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Ogere axis after Verony on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The FRSC spokesperson explained that the lone accident, which was caused by excessive speed and loss of control involved a Toyota Camry marked BDG 526 JC.

” The cause of this lone crash was excessive speed which led to loss of control and the vehicle somersaulted.

“The accident claimed two lives (One woman and a female child).

” Seven people were involved in the lone crash, five sustaining injuries,” she said.

Okpe stated that the injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital Sagamu for medical attention and the deceased were deposited at the same hospital Morgue.

She explained that the Sector Commander, Anthony Uga advised motorists to drive within the stipulated speed limit and observe road signs.
