Two days after closure, FG reopens Ibadan airport

Published by

Two days after the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan was shut down due to an incident involving a chartered jet belonging to Flint Aero firm, the airport runway has been reopened.

The chartered jet which had onboard the minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and some of his aides skidded off the airport runway on landing and subsequently got stuck in a bushy part of the airport.

The incident which led to the closure of the runway forced airlines operating in the airport to suspend their flights with many passengers who had booked their flights getting stranded.

Nigerian Tribune gathered the airport has finally been reopened after the aircraft was evacuated from the runway.

Confirming the reopening, the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu said the airport has been reopened but for visual daylight operations only.

An official of one of the airlines affected by the closure confirmed that the airport has since been reopened to flights.
