The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the arrest of two persons for the offences of criminal conspiracy and theft.
Those arrested are Ibrahim Uzeru, a 30-year-old resident of Kashere Santuraki in Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State, and John Paul, a 35-year-old resident of the Bayan Gari area, Bauchi State.
In a statement made available to journalists, the Command’s PPRO, CSP Ahmed Wakili, stated: “On 29 March 2025, at about 1900 hours, Yahaya Haruna, a 41-year-old resident of the Gidan Gona area in Bauchi metropolis, reported to the Command that earlier that day, at about 1800 hours, he parked his motor vehicle, a green 2000 model Honda Civic with registration number ALK-627-GG, at Yelwan Tudu market.
Upon his return, he discovered that the vehicle was missing and suspected it had been stolen by unknown individuals, prompting him to notify the Police.”

Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives was assigned to investigate the matter and recover the stolen vehicle. The detectives later intercepted the vehicle along the Maiduguri bypass near Awala roundabout. It was found in possession of two individuals identified as the aforementioned suspects.
The PPRO added: “During the interview, neither of the individuals could provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the vehicle, resulting in their arrest for further investigation.”
He disclosed that during interrogation, one of the suspects, Mr. Ibrahim Uzeru, admitted to having received the stolen vehicle from his employer and said he had invited Mr. John Paul to accompany him to Durum to hand over the vehicle to an undisclosed individual. Uzeru also stated that he had promised Mr. John Paul a sum of ₦20,000 as a reward.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
