The Conference of Civil Society for Transparency and Accountability (COCTA) has praised the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for his transformative reforms in the ministry.

The group described the minister as a leader determined to lead Nigeria’s interior ministry towards enhanced national security in the face of adversity from detractors.

In a statement signed by the Director of Communication and Advocacy of the group, Haruna Abdulsalam, the group stressed that initiatives by the minister are crucial for the progress of the country.

The group also praised Tunji-Ojo for the change in policies in the ministry, which according to the group represents a fundamental shift towards greater accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s governance.

The group lauded the minister’s restoration of public trust adding that his leadership style has been characterized by his commitment to the improvement of the ministry.

The group declared its support for the ministry’s initiatives to achieve transformative reforms.

“One of the hallmark achievements of his leadership in the ministry is the streamlining passport processing.

“Other significant projects include enhancement of border security initiative to automate border security which was aimed at curbing illegal immigration and smuggling, thereby protecting national interests.

“Rehabilitation of the country’s correctional facilities and addressing overcrowding issues, demonstrating a commitment to humane treatment of inmates.

“COCTA remains steadfast in her support to Tunji-Ojo, in recognizing that his reforms are vital for dismantling corrupt practices that have long plagued Nigeria.

“We hereby assert that the ongoing reforms are designed to foster transparency within government operations, which is essential for restoring public trust.

“Tunji-Ojo’s reforms are expected to continue evolving, with plans for further improvements in service delivery and ongoing partnerships to combat corruption within the ministry.

“His proactive stance on international relations concerning visa processes also indicates a broader commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s global standing.

“Overall, while there is significant public support for Tunji-Ojo’s initiatives, ongoing challenges from political adversaries and systemic corruption highlight the complexities of governance in Nigeria.

“The transformative agenda set forth by Dr. Tunji-Ojo has represented a fundamental shift towards greater accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s governance. As we continue to support these initiatives”, the statement read.
