TUC gets new executives in Anambra

COMRADE Okechukwu Ifeanyi has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria, Anambra State Council.

He was returned unopposed at the TUC Triennial Delegates Conference of Anambra State Council, held recently in Awka, the State Capital, on Monday.

It was unanimously agreed by all delegates present that the outgoing Chairman, Comrade Okechukwu Ifeanyi, should be re-elected to steer the affairs of the union for another three years.

The over 100 members represented by their delegates and affiliates said Ifeanyi has transformed the TUC from being a spectator to an investor in Anambra State economy. This he has achieved through his leadership qualities.

Among his achievements in the last three years are the cordial relationship between the State Government, the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Security agencies and Business organisations in the State which has transformed the TUC to the majority shareholder in the affairs of the state and the welfare of members.

Alongside the State chairman, Comrade Ifeanyi, who also doubles as the State Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Anambra State Chapter, other officers elected were Comr. Chris Ogbonna Vice Chairman, Comr. David Nwaogorugor Secretary, Comr. Uzzouh Odilichukwu Treasurer, Comr. Eweh Onyedika Financial Secretary, Comr. Uche Mba Public Relation Officer PRO, Comr. Ben Ebi Alex Assistant Secretary, Mrs Nneka Nwankwo Chairperson Women, Comr. Obiakor Ogochukwu Ex-Officio, among others.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Okechukwu Ifeanyi, thanks to the assistant secretary general, Comr. Ebaho Anthony, and other National executives for creating their time to honour his reelection.

The TUC Chairman, who commended the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano for the prompt payment of pensions and salaries to workers in the state as at when due, appeal to the Federal Government to urgently address the security challenges currently ravaging some parts of the country especially the massive killings of the innocent citizens by the Fulani herdsmen.

He added that the primary responsibility of any government is to protect the lives and properties of its citizens,
