Trump appoints Tom Homan as US border czar

Donald Trump has reappointed Tom Homan, his former acting Director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to serve as “border czar” in his new administration.

Trump made this known via his Truth Social platform on Sunday and this role doesn’t require Senate approval.

“I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders,” Trump said.

The deportation of unauthorized immigrants back to their home countries is a crucial component of Trump’s immigration strategy, and he has affirmed that Thomas Homan will be in charge of maritime and aviation security.

Former American police officer, immigration official, and political analyst Thomas Douglas Homan, also known as Tom Homan, was a member of both the first Trump Administration and Barack Obama’s administration. He was US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s acting director from January 30, 2017, to June 29, 2018.

Homan’s appointment was widely expected given his wealth of experience and Trump’s vow to undertake the largest deportation operation in US history.
