President Muhammadu Buhari
THE sudden clamour for true federalism by President Muhammadu Buhari has been described as a huge surprise.
Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, on Saturday, said Nigeria was long overdue for restructuring.
He, however, queried the sincerity of President Buhari given his initial unwillingness to effect true federalism in spite of his refusal to implement the report of the Kaduna State Governor-led committee report set up to look into the restructuring agitation.

“Nigeria, as it is today, is overdue for true federalism, it is an undeniable fact hence am not surprise that such statement is coming from the president, who has, over the years, been silent about the agitation and clamouring for true federalism.
“The social-economic realities on the ground have only gone to tell us that the current structure has failed and it is time for us, as a people, to come together and begin to ask ourselves the hard questions.
“My fear with the statement coming from the president is not whether he is sincere, it is a question of are we ready to take the bull by the horn?” he queried.
