A truck crashed into a building in Okete community in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State early on Thursday, killing nine members of a family.
Sources said that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday while the family members were still asleep.
It was gathered from the source that the crash was a result of brake failure, leading to the truck ramming into a building along the road.
According to a source, “The incident happened around 5am this morning when people were still sleeping. It was the noise of the crash that woke other neighbours.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Command, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident. She said, “The truck rammed into the house and killed the nine family members.”
She added that the command had launched a full-scale investigation into the incident and promised that further information would be made available to newsmen.
