Truck catches fire on AYA bridge in Abuja

There was a major scare and panic in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, on Friday afternoon as a truck loaded with carpets and rugs caught fire on top of the popular AYA bridge.
The fire obstructed human and vehicular movement around the popular AYA area, causing a traffic gridlock for hours.
One eyewitness, Gloria Akudoro, told Tribune Online that, “I was going elsewhere when I saw the burning truck, the driver and three other people noticed the fire, came down and used their fire extinguisher but it was not enough.
“When the first Fire Service vehicle came, it was faulty but this one here is the fourth vehicle from Fire Service that has succeeded in putting out the massive fire,” she stated.
As of the time of filling this report, Usman Danlami Sulaiman, the Asokoro Area Commander of Vehicle Inspection Office, told Tribune Online that “We have called for our recovery vehicle, and its on the way, we want to tow the burnt truck and clear the road for free movement.”
