THE force commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Adeyemi Yekini said that troops of Operation Whirl Stroke on Monday repelled armed herdsmen at Tomatar village in Guma Local Government area of Benue State.
Yekini who spoke to newsmen said that the bandits tried to invade the community and engaged the troops in a gun battle and inflicted heavy casualty on them, adding that no troop suffers casualty in the battle.
The force commander promised that the troops would continue to do its best to ensure safety of lives and property of all by dislodging all armed criminals anywhere in the state.

Villagers at Tomatar have said that some armed herdsmen stormed the community and shot sporadically, the situation which sent residents of the community scampered into safety.
One of the locals, Tanin told our correspondent that some herdsmen bandits invaded Tse Tesghem village near Tomatar.

The local said that Tse Tseghem village close to Tomatar was one of the villages along the Benue riverine area where several people were massacred on new year day in 2018.
