Troops kill bandits, arrest 4 informants, recover arms in Zamfara

 Troops of the Nigerian armed forces have recorded another significant success in its battle against suspected bandits and their informants in Zamfara state.
The troops which comprises the operations SHARAN DAJI and HARBIN KUNAMA 111, have successfully neutralized not less than seven (7), of the bandits while some escape with gunshots while exchanging firepower with troops.
This is contained in a press statement signed by the assistant director,  Army public relations, Major Clement Abiade, and released to Journalists on Friday in Sokoto.
According to Major Abiade, one soldier also paid the supreme prize during the encounter, while six others and a member of local vigilante group also wounded.
“In continuation with the ongoing Operations SHARAN DAJI and HARBIN KUNAMA 111, troops have recorded another significant achievement today the 18th of April 2019.
“The troops in conjunction with the Nigerian Army Deep Blue Special Forces, NAF Air Component and Vigilantes while on clearance operation to ALJUMMA FULANI and KETERE villages in Zamfara State had a fierce encounter with a large number of well-armed bandits.
Due to the superior firepower of the troops, they were able to compel the bandits to flee and abandoned their camps which were set ablaze by the gallant troops.
The following Items were recovered from the bandits includes 934 x 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 1 x AK 47 Rifle, 1 x  Chain used by bandits against kidnapped victims and  7 Motorcycles.
 In a related development, troops on patrol to KARA Market of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State has arrested a suspected informant.
The arrested informant who in turn led to the arrest of 3 other suspects. Those arrested include one Lawali Denden, Salisu Na-mansu and Kabiru Kamarawa from Kamarawa village of Shinkafi axis and Mohammed Sani from Indiri village.
The statement revealed that the arrested suspects have been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
The Force Commander Maj Gen Hakeem Oladapo Otiki commiserates with the family of the late soldier and prays that his sacrifice will not be in vain.
He reiterates the resolve of troops to tackling the menace of armed banditry and other forms of criminalities in Zamfara and its contiguous States of Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto.
