Following his victory at the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal on Monday in Benin, the House of Representative member, represented Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon. Esosa Iyawe, has called his co-constants in the election to join hands with him in moving the constituency forward.
He said that in every contest, there is bound to be victor, hence, the reason fellow contestants must join hands with him for the development of the constituency irrespective of their different political affiliations.
Hon. Iyawe, who stated this in a press statement made available to journalists in Benin, noted democracy thrives where there is robust exchange of ideas and unwavering commitment to democratic institutions
He said: “Today, I sit before you with all humility to express my heartfelt appreciation for my victory at the Tribunal to God and the good people of Oredo Federal Constituency. It is a victory well deserved.
“For my distinguished opposition party members, although we may often find ourselves on opposite sides of the aisle, I want to acknowledge your dedication and the passion you bring to your role as a politician.
“Democracy thrives when there is a robust exchange of ideas, and your unwavering commitment to your principles is a testament to the strength of our democratic institutions.
“Permit me to say that in our increasingly polarized political landscape, it is essential that we recognize and celebrate each other. Today, I have the privilege to do just that.
“Now the Tribunal has decided, let us put politics of bitterness aside and let us come together and work for the betterment of Oredo Federal Constituency.
“In every contest, there must be a victor. We may continue to hold differing views, let us never forget that our shared commitment to the welfare of our citizens unites us in our larger purpose.
“With all humility, I am open to everyone who is ready to seal the ship of good governance. There is a lot to be done for our people.
“I am here to serve you all by working with a deep sense of responsibility, I will always put the needs of the people first.
“It is important to remember that the strength of our democracy lies not only in our ability to disagree but also in our capacity to find a common purpose and work together for the greater good,” he maintained.
