Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko
The National and State Assemblies Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Sokoto has fixed Thursday, May 23, 2019, for the commencement of the main trial in the Petition filed before it by Senator Ahmed Maccido, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Maccido had challenged the declaration of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the winner of the Sokoto North Senatorial District election, conducted on February 23, 2019.
The Tribunal is to commence the hearing on evidences and the presentation of witnesses on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Each of the Counsels has fourteen days to present his witnesses and evidences before the Court, between Thursday, May 23, 2019 and 16th August 2019.
The Tribunal Chairman, Justice Peter Akhimie Akhihiero said that judgment in the case will be delivered on Friday, September 13, 2019.
