Social media users have continued to react differently to the latest reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol by Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Tribune Online reports that Dangote Refinery, on Wednesday, announced that the ex-depot price of its petrol had been reduced from N890 to N825 per litre.
According to the refinery, the price adjustment was designed to provide essential relief to Nigerians in anticipation of the upcoming Ramadan season while also supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic recovery policy by alleviating the financial burden on the Nigerian populace.
Recall that during the Yuletide in December 2024, Dangote Refinery reduced the price of PMS by N70.50, from N970 to N899.50 per litre.
However, netizens have taken to social media, particularly X, to express their opinions about the latest development.
Some opined that the reduction would most likely not directly impact the lives of average Nigerians, arguing that transportation fares would not see corresponding deductions.
On the other hand, others praised the company for the development, describing it as timely.
Reacting to the development, @Chrisllionaire wrote, “Laughing cos transport fare will remain the same.”
Another user, @Sadtruth_ng tweeted, “Petrol price is crashing but transport fare remains the same.”
