Train accident kills 50 cows in Kaduna

A passenger train conveying passengers from Kaduna to Abuja on Sunday was involved in an accident when it crushed 50 cows and later stopped at Rijana village in Kaduna state.
Rijana is reputed to be an abode of kidnappers and armed robbery for commuters plying Kaduna/Abuja road.
It was gathered that the 600 passengers train with registration number KA4 stopped for about 40 minutes before it was finally fixed by the train engineer.
Sources told the Nigerian Tribune that herdsmen were later arrested by the police for allowing the cows to stray onto the track.
It will be recalled that on Friday, another train broke down on the outskirts of Jere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, an area also notorious for kidnapping and armed robbery.
The incident prompted anger and disappointment from the passengers on board the train, which took off at about 10:35 am on Friday and stopped in Jere at about 12:20 pm.
