Traffic builds up as Police deploy heavy security for Lagos-Ibadan Expressway rehabilitation

There was heavy security presence at the Berger to Ogun River section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Monday morning as operatives of Julius Berger blocked the outward Lagos stretch of the road for rehabilitation works while making diversion on the inward Lagos stretch, thereby causing heavy traffic build-up along the single lane.

Speaking with Tribune Online exclusively, the Area Commander Ogudu Police Command of Lagos State,  ACP Miller Dantawaye stated that rhe police have mobilised enmass to ensure maintenance of law and order during the rehabilitation works.
According to the Ogude Area Commander, “We have mobilised enmass to ensure that there are proper blockings.

“Secondly, we are going to make sure that we have men patroling the stretch of 600merers being worked on,and we are going to have at least, ten bikes patrolling that stretch, meaning an average of a bike per 100metres.
“The officers on the bikes will be duly armed because we know that there could be a possibility of roads users getting robbed during the period of slow traffic.”
The traffic congestion is already telling on the inward Lagos end as vehicles leaving Lagos (after being diverted) are battling with vehicles coming into Lagos for available space.
