THE Olubaka of Okaland, in Ondo State, Oba Adebori Adeleye, has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirits of perseverance, tolerance, and honesty which, he said, made it possible for Prophet Muhammad to spread Islam across the world.
The traditional ruler made the plea in a message in which he felicitated Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-al Maulud, the birthday of the Prophet.
Oba Adeleye cautioned Nigerians against hiding under the guise of religion to foment trouble as, according to him, peaceful coexistence is critical national growth and development.
The chairman of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) in Akoko North West Local Government Area of the state, Sheikh Basiru Aminu, urged Muslims to desist from inordinate ambition to get political power and get rich quickly, saying this ran counter to the teaching of the Prophet.
In his own message, the Chief Imam of Ikareland, Sheikh Abbas Abubakar, advised parents to train their children in the way of Allah so that they would imbibe virtues of Prophet Muhammad and shun social vices.
The cleric described Prophet Muhammad as the best role model for mankind.
Activities like Our’an recitation, debate and open lecture have been lined up in the Akoko area of Ondo State to mark Maulud Nabiyy.
