Trader Moni: 13, 000 traders get loan in Jigawa

JigawaJigawaJIGAWA state vowed to achiev 100 per cent 30,000 slots allocated to petty traders to be benefited from the newly introduced Trader Moni programme by the federal govrernment, as 13,000 so far access the loan facility

This was disclosed by the programme coodinator in the state, Hajiya Hauwa Adam, while speaking to Nigerian Tribune in Dutse, Jigawa state capital during public enlightenment campaign on the programme in Dutse ultra modern market said so far over 13,000 has received the loan since the commencemenr of the project in the country.

The ongoing programme, which is among the exciting opportunities for Nigerians created by the Nigerian Federal Government early this year with a target of over two million traders across the 36 states in the country where N10, 000 loans through Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) will be given to petty traders.

Hajiya Hauwa Adam said it was created and established to alleviate poverty among the teaming populace with a view to supporting small traders to expand their business trade via the provision of collateral free loans of N10,000.

She also said that currently the Buhari led administration has launched a new initiative under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), called the Trader Moni, which will empower about two million petty traders between now and the end of the year adding that, the initiative, which is mobile phone-based, is aimed to support about 2 million Nigerians with collateral-free loans to boost their businesses and no interest rate added.

Nigerian Tribune observed that there were high turnout of the petty traders ranging from Okada riders, small and medium scale merchants across the many registration centres in Fagoji and Dutse New markets well as Yan Tifa and Yoruba Jumat mosques

Some of the beneficiaries of the programmes like one Malam Ibrahim Musa a vegetable trader, said in his lifetime, nobody and no government ever has deemed it fit to assist people like him, Musa who is above 45 years of age confirmed that he has never held the sum of twenty thousand Naira as his personal money neither has anybody ever assisted him.
