Trade Ministry to conduct census for MSMEs nationwide in 2025

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is planning to conduct a census for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide in 2025.

In a bid to improve the country’s economic growth, the Ministry under the leadership of Dr. Jumoke Oduwole is intensifying efforts to boost productivity in the industrial sub-sector of the economy.

According to the Ministry’s economic outlook for 2025, reforms like the Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG) will be implemented.

FMITI stated that the aim is to create and re-engineer Nigeria’s Industrial sector using a high-level task force focused on implementing this industrial modernized blueprint for sustainable industrialization.

The Document explained that a nationwide census would be conducted to establish a precise, data-driven roadmap for empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs

“Delivering on these priorities requires a bold approach, one that requires and enables industrial cities, parks and MSME clusters access to cutting-edge industrial machinery and infrastructure; and guarantees stable power and energy solutions through structured financing and management models.

“We will also drive the revitalization of existing industries, ensuring they remain vibrant players in an increasingly competitive world.

“To make these a reality, we will engage extensively with key stakeholders across sectors, fostering strategic partnerships, collaboration, and rigorous monitoring of industrial projects”.

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Sen. John Own Enoh said the Journey ahead demands unity of purpose, and I am confident that together, we will set Nigeria on an irreversible path to industrial greatness”.

FMITI 2025 outlook contains a blueprint in the sub-sector of export, investment inflow, and implementation of AfCFTA amongst other economic drivers.
