Tough Times: FG Urges Women To Pray For Nigeria

The Federal government has urged Nigerian women to intensify prayers for President Muhammad Buhari and the nation, currently faced with a tough time.

While praying for the President and the country, the women were also urged to influence their husbands and sons who among those that have constituted trouble for the country.

Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Paulen Tallen, said this Tuesday while receiving A female aspirant for the Kogi state gubernatorial election, Natasha Akpoti in her office in Abuja.

Natasha was led by Dr. Gloria Laraba Shoda to secure the minister’s support to inspire women solidarity for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship aspirant.

The minister also urged the women to prioritize the girl-child education for the benefit of the nation.

Tallen said: “We need your absolute cooperation in prayers and support. Nigeria is going through a difficult and trying moment and as mothers of the nation, I want to appeal to all of you, through your various organizations to put the President and all the challenges facing Nigeria and all his cabinet in prayer.

“As mothers of the nation, the prayer of mothers can never be neglected. You know that a praying mother would always succeed over every challenge that is facing the home.

“Mothers are the heart of the home, mothers are the heart of the society, mothers are the engine that keeps the family together.

“The security problems that we are facing today, women are in the position to help stem it because you are the mothers of these youths that are used to cause unrest in our society.

“You are wives to some of the men that are causing these problems within our society and as good mothers, as patriotic mothers God has given us the wisdom to handle the home front effectively.

“I appeal for your patience, your prayers and your understanding. I appeal that you mentor the young ones coming up, the Minister appealed.

Tallen who pledge to work with the National Council of Women Society (NCWS) commended the courage of Natasha for throwing her hat into the ring to seek an elective office and said this time around she will not only be participating as a woman but would be supported to win the election.

She said Natasha’s shot at politics is part of the narrative her administration at the women affairs ministry will be championing, to make them grow politically and contribute to national development.

The President of the National Council of Women Society Gloria Shoda called on the minister to explore cooperation between the ministry and the council for the development of the Nigerian woman.

In her quest for support from the minister, Natasha called on the Minister to look beyond party line and extend support to the woman candidate in the forthcoming governorship election.

She said her mission is to advance her state industrially through attracting industrial hub to the state and promotion of social justice
