Top 5 nootropics for brain improvement

Published by

Nootropics world has a wide variety of supplements and most of them are already popular because of their wonderful benefits. It is widely known as “smart drugs” and “cognitive enhancers” as it has been used mainly for cognitive functions.

Every nootropic has its own benefits, dosage instructions and side effects that you have to be aware of. All of them work differently, so at first you should set a goal, then supervise your body reactions. Everyone is unique, so the effects can differentiate too.

Top 5 nootropics to improve the brain

  1. Noopept is one of the famous nootropics nowadays. It is a brand name for N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester. It is known for its benefits that include enhancing cognition, memory, attention and even concentration. Noopept can enhance the dopamine level which has an important role in the brain. This supplement is being used for people who are suffering stress, depression, and anxiety. For more information click here.

The recommended dosage for Noopept is 10-30mg a day. Firstly it is best to take Noopept in small amounts like 10mg then gradually add. Noopept mostly strikes fast, 20-30 minutes after taking it.

There is some research claiming that there might be some side effects while taking Noopept like insomnia, hence it is suggested to take it during the day. It may also cause mild headaches, nausea and upset stomach. All of these might happen if you take too much Noopept or your organism just does not accept such substance.

Noopept may be combined with other nootropics like Alpha GPC or CDP Choline to improve effects that you wish to receive.

  1. Another good nootropic for the brain is Phenibut, it is also famous as the Noopept. It is a cognitive enhancer which has the ability to improve the learning, memory and thinking. This supplement is being used for people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and insomnia because it gives a relaxing sensation to the brain. Learn more about Phenibut here.

The recommended dosage for Phenibut is 250-1000mg a day. Please be responsible while taking nootropics, especially Phenibut, and do not exceed the recommended dosage. It is best to start with 250mg then gradually add. There might be some side effects if you take this supplement too much like nausea, fatigue, trouble breathing, and dizziness. Phenibut can be very addictive if you will start to play with its dosage, thus be careful and follow the instructions.

Phenibut may be stackable with other nootropic supplements like Bacopa Monnieri and L-Theanine. They will give the best results for relaxation.

  1. Alpha GPC is a natural hormone that can be found in the brain called acetylcholine. The natural sources of Alpha GPC are eggs, salmon etc. This nootropic is being used by people who want to improve their memory, learning skills, and some research says it may help with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Basically, it helps with cognitive function and improving brain health. Some people use this as a pre-workout supplement.

The recommended dosage for Alpha GPC varies from 250-1,200mg a day and it depends on the user’s wanted effects. It is always best to know what you want to achieve before taking a big dosage of nootropics as there might be some side effects like headaches, digestion issues and may cause irritability.

Alpha GPC may be stacked with other nootropics like Noopept and Uridine. They work well with both supplements especially regarding brain health and memory.

  1. Sulbutiamine is also a good nootropic for improving the brain. It was firstly discovered in Japan when scientists tried to develop thiamine derivatives. However, this supplement is man-made and it is similar to Thiamine or Vitamin B1. Sulbutiamine dissolves in fat, unlike the Vitamin B1 that can be dissolved in water. This nootropic is used to increase the thiamine levels in the brain.

Sulbutiamine may help people improve mood, memory, boost motivation and on top of that, it may also help with nerve problems and erectile dysfunction. Some are using it as a pre-workout supplement because it is a stimulant. The effect can be felt in 30 minutes and may last to 2-3 hours.

The recommended dosage for Sulbutiamine is 200-600mg a day during the morning. Do not exceed the suggested usage as it may cause nausea, tiredness, insomnia, and headache. Avoid this supplement if you are pregnant or lactating women.

TIP: Since it is fat-soluble, make sure to take Sulbutiamine with a fat source or your body will not absorb it.

It can be stacked with other nootropic supplements like L-Tyrosine to increase mental energy and focus.

  1. One more nootropic that can improve the brain is Choline Bitartrate. This choline is combined with salt and tartaric acid which has better absorption than the pure choline. It is a B Vitamin which is an essential nutrient. Choline supplement was firstly discovered in 1975 to improve the acetylcholine.

The body produces natural choline but in a small amount and we need this nutrient for every day to maintain good health. Choline Bitartrate is water-soluble; once you take it immediately enters your bloodstream going in the brain.

There are some foods that contain natural Choline such as dairy products, whole grains, fish, beans, and nuts. However, foods alone may not be enough hence there’s this supplement we can take.

Most people use this as a cognitive enhancer as it may normalize the brain health, enhance the memory, help Tourette’s disease, and depression. If you are experiencing memory problems, insomnia, and fatigue you might want to consider taking this supplement as these are the common factors of Choline deficiency.

The recommended dosage for Choline Bitartrate is 500-3,000mg a day.

This may be a higher dosage because it is water-soluble unlike other types of choline which are fat-soluble and needs a lower dosage such as Alpha GPC and CDP. Please do not exceed the suggested usage as it still may cause toxicity.

There are some reported side effects of Choline Bitartrate like nausea, blurry vision, low bowel movement, and chest pain. Once you feel any of these, you may stop taking the supplement. You can stack it with other supplements like Noopept.
