It is over! Toke Makinwa splits from Maje Ayida

Media personality, Toke Makinwa, is single again. Her marriage to estranged lover, Maje Ayida, has now been disolved after Makinwa approached the court to dissolve their union on adultery grounds.

Problem started for the couple in 2015 after news emerged that Mayida, was reportedly expecting a child from another woman.

Their three-year-old marriage was annulled by Justice Morenike Obadina of the Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Thursday. Makinwa, who released her first book, On Becoming, months back was said to have approached the court last year March to dissolve her marriage with Maje on grounds of adultery.

Delivering his judgment, Justice Obadina said Maje had approached the court to file a petition against Toke but did not provide evidence to back up his claim in the petition. The judge held that Toke had sufficiently proven that the husband committed adultery and continued to flaunt his adulterous relationships even to her face.

“I hold that the marriage has broken down on grounds of intolerable behaviour. I hereby pronounce a ‘Decree Nisi’ dissolving the marriage between Makinwa and Ayida, which was administered at the federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos, on January 15, 2014. The order Nisi shall become absolute three months from today unless within that period sufficient cause is shown why it should not be made absolute,” the judge said.

Maje and Anita who are the defendants and co-defendants in the case did not provide any defense against Toke who filed the suit against them.
