Togolese in trouble over N4.7m fraud allegation

A 29-year-old Togolese, on Wednesday,  pleaded not guilty after being accused of defrauding two men  of  N4.7 million under the pretext of helping them purchase cars.

Leonard Aglosso, was accused of defrauding Ifesinachi Dibua and Obayemi Sunleye.

According to the police, the accused committed the crime at 11 a.m., sometime in October at No. 19. Olu Irolu Street, Ijeshatedo area of Lagos.

He was further accused of fraudulently obtaining N4.8 million from Dibua and Sunleye under the pretext of assisting them to buy one Toyota Highlander 2006 model SUV and a Toyota Hiace bus.

“Rather than use the money for the purpose it was meant for, Leonard converted the money to his personal use,” the police told a Surulere Magistrate Court where Leonard is facing charges of fraud and stealing.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

Dan-Oni adjourned the case to January 23, 2017 for mention.
