Toeing path of dignity

PEER groups influence the life of every individual. They can affect people positively or negatively in areas such as mode of dressing.

Today, our youths are bent on passing a message to whoever cares to listen: they believe that their ideas rule the universe. And they showcase such ideas through provocative dressing which invariably portrays them as lacking in manners. This may tarnish their reputation and that of their families.

Some ladies, in particular, may think they are not attractive enough to the opposite sex and so could be driven by inferiority complex to opt for dresses that expose sensitive parts of their bodies. But they are unmindful of the fact that every creature of God is beautiful.

This youthful and vibrant group has forgotten that a person may not be beautiful facially, but may have good legs, among others, that could attract the opposite sex.
In institutions of higher learning, some young females dress provocatively with the intention to attract their male lecturers so as to inflate their scores during examinations. But the truth is, any student that works hard would, through God’s grace, always excel without having to seduce lecturers.

Experience has shown that some ladies who throw their pride to the wind by engaging in ignoble acts that society frowns on eventually end up being rape victims. They are traumatised for life.
My advice to today’s youths is to abstain from shameful acts in the name of flowing with the tide of modernity, and embrace lifestyles that would bring honour to their families and the nation at large.
