Tipper, lorry drivers join NURTW in Ogun

Published by

President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Nojeem Yasin, has charged members of First Nigerian Tipper and Lorry Association of Nigeria (FNTLAN) to always abide by the rules and regulations guiding the operations of the NURTW in their day to day activities.

Alhaji Yasin gave the charge in Abeokuta, Ogun State at the weekend, while receiving members of  FNTLAN, Ogun State chapter  who have just affiliated with Ogun State council of the NURTW.

Yasin stated that NURTW  is the only industrial union recognised by the relevant labour laws to protect the interests of workers in the road sector.

He said: “I agree with you that joining NURTW is the best thing to do because the extant laws guiding the operations of trade unions in the country provide that the NURTW is the only registered and recognised trade union organisation to represent the interests of workers who engage in road transport operation.”

He assured the new members that they would not regret their decision, as everything would be done to protect their interests.

He added: “ln line with our constitution, which is, among other things, to promote the welfare of our members, we have, over the years, consistently strived to play the motherly role by protecting the interests of our members and I’m assuring you that the case of members of the FNTLA will not be an exception.”
