Tinubu’s research fund will accelerate development of Nigeria, says NAL

THE Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) has commended President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of the National Research Fund, saying it would help accelerate development in the country.

NAL, in a statement by its president, Professor Sola Akinrinade, said: “We are confident that, properly implemented, the Fund will help to accelerate development in all its ramifications in the country.

“As an Academy, we are prepared to work with all stakeholders to produce effective and skilled citizens that are nationally relevant and globally competitive.

“With financial support from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), we have in the recent past, worked with the Nigerian Academy of Science to develop a framework for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Education in this country.

“With the growing understanding of the need to assist the next generation of Nigerians to acquire well-rounded skills for an innovative and creative future, NAL is ready to contribute to national development in this regard.”

NAL also celebrated with President Tinubu over his investiture as Grand Patron of Science by the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS).

Professor Akinrinade said the timely award is an acknowledgment of the sterling and astute leadership qualities of President Tinubu and his readiness to work with the academia in its progressive search for sustainable development.

“It is also a recognition of the current administration’s desire to firmly establish an all-encompassing approach to leveraging the capacity of Nigerians to innovate and create solutions to the multiple development challenges confronting the nation.

“Thus, we join the Nigerian Academy of Science to identify with Mr. President in the onerous task of rebuilding the country through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement by NAL reads.
