A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr Olusegun Osinkolu, has harped on the need for unity in the state’s chapter of the party to emerge victorious in 2018, declaring that former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State “remains the indisputable leader of the party in the South West”.
He told newsmen during a stakeholders meeting of the party in Ayede-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area, on Monday, that it was time President Muhammadu Buhari appointed more party members from Ekiti into his cabinet, saying the delay in the appointment was adversely affecting the party’s mobilisation drive.
Osinkolu, who is eyeing the Ekiti North Senatorial District seat in 2019, also appealed to party members in the state to refrain from incendiary comments that could portray APC as being polarised, saying what should be the priority now was unity and mass mobilisation drive to fortify the party.
He said “Tinubu’s records speak for him as the leader of the party and his leadership remains undivided and incontestable” and also hailed Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State for his public declaration that he is not the leader of the party in the region.
He decried the leadership tussle among party leaders in the region and said: “People like me worked for President Buhari in the 2015 election because of Tinubu. I have never met the president in my life.
