The President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu have donated over 100,000 combo packs of food items to Nigerians.
According to them, this gesture came in the spirit of Easter celebration and Ramadan fast for Christians and Muslims.
Representing the incoming First Family, the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Betta Edu, during the flag off of the food distribution at the National Mosque in Abuja, said the idea was to show love to Nigerians as she called on everyone to pursue peace, security and to ensure that during this period, Nigerians reflect and pray for the nation’s unity, peace, love, security and more blessings for the country.
She said, “The President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife Senator Oluremi Tinubu actually asked us to be here to distribute combo packs to Muslim faithfuls during the period of Ramadan which of course is a period of given and love, we are also reaching out to the Christian faithfuls, so different churches will be receiving combo packs for the Easter celebration.
“We’ll be delivering hundreds of 1000s of this combo packs that contain different food items to various mosques and churches across the nation… so we are having over 100,000 of items that are going out, they have been divided them into different mosques and churches across the nation”.
Let’s pursue peace, Nigeria belongs to all of us and everyone has a role they’re supposed to play in nation building, we cannot underestimate that role, It’s time to lay aside party politics and face governance, let’s come together as one nation under God to ensure that we see the development that we wish for. Let’s work towards it and let’s all give our support to the incoming president Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu because we’re very sure he’ll make the difference”, she added.
Also, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim said the gesture was to strengthen the religious harmony among Nigerians.
She called for calm and peace across the country in the spirit of Easter and Ramadan.
