President Bola Tinubu has urged graduates of Nigerian universities to embrace patriotism and resist the temptation to seek better opportunities abroad.
He emphasised that Nigeria has the potential to make its own opportunities just as abundant—if not more so—than those found in other countries.
During his address at the 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremony of the University of Uyo, held at the institution’s permanent site on Nwanniba Road, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges currently facing the nation.
He assured the public that his administration is implementing measures aimed at alleviating these difficulties, particularly for the vulnerable segments of society.
Represented by Professor Owunari Georgewill, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Tinubu encouraged graduates to become agents of change.
He urged them to apply their knowledge and skills to address societal issues for the betterment of both Nigeria and the global community.
“As you enter the world, I urge you to be agents of change. Use your knowledge and skills to uplift our society and contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria and the world at large,” he stated.
The President also expressed concern that, despite the establishment of numerous educational institutions, research findings often languish unpublished and unutilized, remaining on the shelves of their authors.
