The Senior Special Assistant on Students’ Engagement to the President, Sunday Asefon, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrenching religious balancing in the country’s political system to promote national unity and cohesion.
The former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS), urged Nigerians across Religious lines to back Tinubu’s initiatives and strives to make the country attain a society devoid of religious violence, intolerance, and fanaticism.
This came as the presidential aide distributed palliative rice and cash gifts to Muslims in Ekiti State to support them during this Ramadan season, which was in alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
On Tuesday, Asefon, who spoke while distributing the palliatives to the beneficiaries in Ado Ekiti, applauded the Muslim Ummah for their solid backing for President Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administrations.
The students’ leader, represented by former NANS/JCC Secretary, Ekiti axis, Sikiru Aderibigbe affirmed that the high level of religious tolerance between the two major religious bodies accounted for the rapid development being savored under President Tinubu and Oyebanji’s governments.
Asefon challenged the Muslims to use the Ramadan season to offer prayer supplications for the nation’s development and pray to God to grant President Tinubu the required intellectual acumen and grace to usher in the expected economic and political rebirth during his reign.
He said, “By appointments and other socio-economic and political considerations, President Tinubu has been fair to all religions. His aim is to ensure that Nigeria becomes a nation where religious tolerance and cohesion can be entrenched so that we can have a stable and friendly society.
“I am particularly happy that Governor Oyebanji is replicating the same here in Ekiti State and it is in this template that we are working towards. I appreciate the Muslims for their dedication to national development and this Ramadan season provides another platform for them to demonstrate their fidelity and loyalty to the Nigerian nation through their prayers and support.”

On the significance of the programme, the Chairman of Ado Local Government, Hon Bosun Osaloni, described Asefon as a good representative of Tinubu’s government and a worthy Ambassador of the State, by displaying exemplary generosity in terms of empowerment and distribution of free JAMB forms to 500 students.
Osaloni said past records indicated that Asefon fought relentlessly to position the student population in a good spotlight across the nation, saying the gesture further indicated that he cares about the citizens of the country.
He urged the Muslims to continually pray for President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji, for Nigeria and Ekiti to witness unprecedented development during their tenures.
“We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for counting Sunday Asefon worthy of being appointed. This Ramadan gesture buttressed the fact that Tinubu’s government and those he appointed think about the people and their welfare,” he said.
