National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Sunday morning visited Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, in his Ondo home to commiserate with him over the death of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin.
Olakunrin was allegedly shot dead on Friday, on the Kajola-Ore road in Ondo State by unknown assailants suspected to Fulani herdsmen.
Lately, recent killings and kidnapping in the country, especially on the highway have been blamed Fulani herdsmen which many said are notorious for these dastardly acts on Nigerian highways.
But Tinubu, answering journalists questions on the allegation, in Ondo, during his condolence visit said, there was no evidence to substantiate the claims on the herdsmen unleashing terror on Nigerians, especially linking them to the killing of Funke Olakunrin.

Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos States said, kidnapping is not peculiar to any ethnic group or a particular set of people in Nigeria, as he rhetorically asked, if Evans, the “billionaire kidnapper,” whose real name is Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, arrested by the police in 2017, and currently under trial for kidnapping, was a herdsman.
Tinubu reacting to the allegation that herdsmen were behind the attack and killing of Olakunrin, said: “I am extremely concerned about security but I don’t want the stigma. I can go through the history of kidnapping and we know how it started, where it all started, there are a lot of copycats, how many years ago have we faced insecurity in this country and cases of kidnapping? Is Evans a herdsman?”
