Tinubu intentional about South-East devt — Kalu

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, on Tuesday disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is highly committed to developing the South Eastern region of the country, particularly Abia State.

Hon. Kalu made this statement during the groundbreaking ceremony for Abia Airport in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The Deputy Speaker, who expressed gratitude to the President for approving the project, also highlighted that the South East Development Commission (SEDC) is another significant, people-oriented initiative that demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to the South East region.

He assured Governor Alex Otti of the Parliament’s cooperation in ensuring the quick completion of the airport project through adequate budgetary provisions.

It is worth noting that the Deputy Speaker, who represents Bende Federal Constituency of the State, played a pivotal role in securing the project. This included handing over the project letter from federal authorities to the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa/Isiala South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, for delivery to the Governor to gain his support for the critical infrastructure.

He said: “I want to assure you that the President we have today is deliberate and intentional about developing the South East region. He is not mincing words about it. He is a lover of the South East. We thank you, Mr. President, for being intentional about Abia State.

“When the letter got to me, I called Hon. Ginger and said, ‘Please take this letter straight to Governor Otti.’ We will continue seeking avenues to develop Abia State.

“I want to assure you (Governor Otti) that we will cooperate with you in completing any project initiated in collaboration with you. Let us all join hands and build Abia,” he urged.
