The Federal Government has officially taken over Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), elevating it to the status of a Federal University.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave the approval for the transition of TASUED which was established by the Ogun state government in 2005, to a specialised University of Education.
Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade, who made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja, said the transformation positions TASUED as one of the three dedicated Universities of Education in the country, reinforcing the government’s commitment to advancing teacher education and human capital development.
Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the transition and for his unwavering dedication to educational development.
He praised the President’s visionary leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s education sector and ensuring sustainable progress.

Alausa also commended the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for his support and trust in the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance the nation’s academic landscape.
“Additionally, he acknowledged the Awujale of Ijebu-land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, for his steadfast backing of this historic transition, which will bring lasting benefits to the people.
“The Federal Government’s decision to take over TASUED aligns with its strategic vision to bolster teacher education and equip the next generation of educators with the skills and resources needed to drive national development,” the statement added.
