…arrives Corps headquarters in Abuja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu, as the new Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The newly appointed DG on Thursday arrived at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja to assume duty as the 23rd DG of the NYSC.
The outgoing DG, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, will hand over to him in a colourful ceremony later on Thursday.
The new DG was, until his appointment, Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, having also served in the same capacity with the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Raised Abiodun Lagbaja.
A member of the 47 Regular Course, Nafiu is an Artillery Officer who graduated from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the US Army War College.
Before he was appointed Chief of Staff to the COAS, he was a Directing Staff at the Army War College, Nigeria.

General Nafiu hails from Ileogbo, Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State.
Earlier, the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who described General Nafiu as a fine and disciplined professional, congratulated him on the appointment.
He also extended gratitude to Tinubu for giving yet another Osun indigene the opportunity to contribute to nation-building.
In a statement signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to the governor, Adeleke said, “I’m extremely delighted to learn of the appointment of Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle as the Director–General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The appointment is an affirmation of the confidence in the capacity of Brigadier-General Olakunle, and I’m thankful to Mr. President for the opportunity given to one of Osun’s finest citizens.”
