Time for youths to lead Nigeria

Published by

THose aged between 18- 45 constitute 78.22 per cent of Nigeria’s population. This  gives an overriding numerical advantage to the youths to effectively decide elections come 2019 and beyond.

This analysis has become necessary to ensure that power changes hands. We should the generations unborn and force out politicians who have determined to run Nigeria as family/joint businesses, making  the future bleak with hopelessness, destitutionand enslavement

The onus is now on the youths to determine which path to follow, whether the old road filled with oppression, longsuffering and hopelessness or a path of a real and purposeful change.

It is high time youths actively participated in elections, taking the mantle the leaderships in the nation.

Right from our communities, let the search for god -fearing youths begin.

Enough of politicians who move from one political parties to another and still get celebrated. Politics is not a dirty game as many presumed. Otherwise, the dirty people we see today will continue to dominate and inherit what belongs to us all.

Politics is for the fittest and it is a game of numbers. The recently proposed ambassadorial appointment for an 82-year-old man is the clearest indication that the youths are not in the plan for national development.

In the 2016 budget, the Federal Government earmarked N2 billion for national job creation and the Graduate Internship Scheme. In the same budget, a whooping N300 billion and N294.5 billion were earmarked for special Intervention Programme and Defence, respectively.

Please tell me what needs special intervention and defence in Nigeria more than youth unemployment? Youth unemployment constitutes a more deadly and long-lasting security threat to the nation than corruption and the Boko Haram insurgency. Our government has no direction and is clueless about what to do. Nigerians should stop trusting any political party and names but vibrant youths, irrespective of tribe, religion, political party or financial strenght.
