Time to amend EFCC Act

Published by

I write with great modicum of respect publicly to inform the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, to begin the process of amending Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Act to give them enabling power to investigate and prosecute whoever grabs landed property from the owner who has a valid title.

The agency has apprehended and successfully prosecuted many internet fraudsters; it has recovered stolen public funds for both the Federal and state governments in Nigeria and private individuals are not left out. If the Senate can do this for Nigerians by amending EFCC Act to investigate and prosecute whoever grabs a landed property from the real owners, it will stop the menace of land grabbing in Nigeria.

Any attempt by land grabbers to grab a landed property from the real owners will be futile if our distinguished senators under leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio can take urgent action on this by amending the EFCC Act to investigate and prosecute whoever grabs land.

I can say confidently that it is only the EFCC office that can handle this land-grabbing issue and get positive results. Land grabbing is a menace in Nigeria and needs drastic steps to get a solution. Once EFCC takes over land grabbing issue, land grabbing will reduce drastically.
