At least two Nigerian films will be premiering at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, which kicked off on Thursday, September 5 in Toronto, Canada.
Leading the Nigerian delegation with features in two of the Nigerian films is actor and content creator, Adebowale Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni.
Mr Macaroni features in Afolabi Olalekan’s ‘Freedom Way’ which is inspired by the real-life experiences of young people in Lagos. The story investigates globally relevant issues such as police brutality and corrupt government. Expertly weaving together the stories of nine characters, ‘Freedom Way’ team is led by emerging production studio Blessing Uzzi’sBluhouse Studios. The film also features South Africa’s Jesse Suntele.
The film is scheduled for a world premiere on Saturday, September 7.
In the same vein, Mr Macaroni takes on another role in the Agbajowo Collective’s ‘The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos.’
The feature is set to have its world premiere as part of the TIFF 2024’s centrepiece section.
For ‘The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos,’ Mr Macaroni takes on the role of Jawu in the riveting indictment of the unchecked development and forced evictions besetting Africa’s largest city.
