Three killed in renewed Edo cult war

Three persons including a disabled person have been shot dead in a renew cult clashes between members of different cultures groups.

The latest attacks occurred in Iduowina and Iguosa communities in Ovia North East Local government in the suburbs of the Benin metroplis.

Two were killed at Iguosa while the third was killed at Iduowina while reportedly taking his bath.

Mother of one of the victim identified as Sunny, Roseline Igunwe, said her son was killed after he returned from his poultry farm.

She said she heard gunshots and ran out to lock her gates when a boy came to inform her that her son had been shot dead.

At Iduowina, an eyewitness who gave his as Ogbeide, said the victim was in the bathroom when six gunmen stormed the building and chased him out.

Ogbeide said the victim was shot twice and macheted with a battle axe.

Edo State Police Commissioner, Haliru Gwandu, could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing the report.
